Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My greatest inspiration in business is Lagos's rich and vibrant food culture, where every dish tells a story and brings people together. I’m especially inspired by Nigerian Shawarma, a dish with a rich history that reflects a fusion of cultures. Growing up, I admired how street vendors turned simple ingredients into flavorful masterpieces. This passion led to the creation of BSTO, where I aim to share authentic, nostalgic flavors that celebrate the warmth and energy of Nigerian culture.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated and grounded in a few ways but not limited to constantly reconnecting with my passion for creating a Nigerian comfort food experience while celebrating small wins as we grow in the community. Also, engaging with customers for feedback or credits, and visualizing the big picture keeps me focused. I embrace challenges as learning opportunities, prioritize self-care to prevent burnout, and stay inspired by continuously learning and surrounding myself with a supportive network.

What would you do with the $25,000?

When awarded the $25,000 grant, I will strategically invest it to enhance BSTO’s operations and expand our reach. The funds will be allocated toward purchasing essential kitchen equipment and upgrading our current kitchen space to accommodate the preparation of new menu items, ensuring efficiency and quality. Additionally, a portion of the grant will be directed toward a robust digital marketing campaign to create greater awareness of BSTO across our local community and the city at large.
