Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My inspiration to teach (SEL) to youth came from experiences I had after moving to Harlem, NY. One moment occurred in an elevator when I overheard teenagers discussing college. A young lady said, “College is not for us; we can’t go—that’s for white people.” Her words reflected a limiting belief system rooted in systemic inequities and generational discouragement. How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by focusing on the impact my work has on the lives of others and reminding myself of the “why” behind my mission. Moments when student expresses newfound confidence, demonstrates empathy, reaches a goal they once thought was impossible motivates me. I also draw motivation from my personal experiences. Reflecting on the challenges I’ve faced and the mentors who helped me along the way inspires me to pay it forward. Knowing that I can be a source of guidance.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, Lift Up Lab Inc. will purchase supplies like journals, art materials, and yoga equipment for interactive SEL sessions. Funds will also maintain and enhance our website as a resource hub, linking youth to mentors, guidance, and future labs. We’ll develop new programs, expand outreach, and provide scholarships to reward engagement. This funding will strengthen our ability to empower youth with skills in emotional regulation, goal setting, and resilience, creating lasting impact
