Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

I started Poppy to create flexibility in my schedule and for the opportunity to create a better future for my family. What began as a small local shop has grown into a brand with national distribution. Over time, I’ve found greater purpose in creating opportunities for my team, supporting my community, and empowering other small businesses. Entrepreneurship has taught me that success isn’t just about growth, but about making a positive impact on the people around you.

How do you stay motivated?

Honestly, I don't! But, I’ve discovered that I thrive when faced with challenges that seem impossible. I love the process of bringing a team of passionate people together and figuring out how to make things work. To me, that's the good stuff. I like the process of putting the puzzle together. Each day is different and the road is ever winding. As a high school graduate with no formal business training, I sometimes stop and think "wow, look how far we've come!"

What would you do with the $25,000?

I'd take a vacation! While I started Poppy with the idea that I'd have more time with my kids and have more control over my life and schedule, that was naive thinking. As a business owner, especially in the early days with everything on the line and so little room for error, quality time with friends and family are often sacrificed. My kids have gained so much by being a part of this process but I'd certainly love some quality time with them while they're still willing to spend it with me!
