Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My mother inspired me to become a barber. She was a single mother and raised two boys from this profession. She is tough, resilient and kind. She taught me being a barber isn’t about just throwing down a mean fade but more about building relationships. It is a profession to be proud of. I’ve tried to emulate that mentality through our barbershops. In the same way she changed my life I try to pass along to my friends. How do you stay motivated?

Family, friends and community. As a barber you see people on their best and worst days. Weddings, vacations, funerals etc. You are blessed with the opportunity to enjoy these occasions or help your clients through them by just doing what you love. Watching new barbers grow and learn what you already know is probably the best feelings in the world. I’ll never stop leading to the water, but the ones that actually drink provide me with more motivation than I’ll ever need.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the 25k I would make property upgrades. New siding, roof, gutters. Pretty practical stuff. Currently I have 2 shops (Locals Barbershop). We are very involved in the community. At the start of every school year we do free cuts for the back 2 school kids. Last year we closed down the whole block lol. Teamed up with the salon and tattoo shop.
