Register for FreeMy eldest came to me at 9, proudly declaring she wanted to be a software engineer, which inspired me to start Black Girls Do Engineer. Now, at 14, her aspirations have shifted—she dreams of becoming a dermatologist and is starting college this year. Her journey reminds me of the limitless potential in our girls and fuels my passion to create opportunities for them to explore, grow, and lead in STEM and beyond.
How do you stay motivated?I stay motivated by the energy and inspiration I feel every time I step into a room full of girls at our events or meetings. Seeing their excitement, curiosity, and determination reminds me why I started this journey. Their potential and dreams fuel my passion to keep going, ensuring they have the support and opportunities to thrive. Knowing I’m making a difference in their lives is all the motivation I need.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, we would further strengthen our presence in Brooklyn, NY, by establishing a Digital Equity Center dedicated to empowering girls and women. This center will provide access to technology, training, and resources, equipping them with the skills needed for success in STEM fields and beyond. It would be a hub for innovation, education, and opportunity, bridging the digital divide and inspiring future leaders.
