Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My son is my inspiration for business. I grew up in a environment where drugs, gangs and typical hood mentality is all we were taught. After catching a gun possession charge at age 14 and serving two years as a juvenile, I learned to look in the mirror and take real accountability for my actions. I went on to earn an associates degree and launching a tax business. I still work in various roles, Controller, Operations Manager and also served as a finance director for non profit Christian church.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by remembering where I started. Work comes easy when I am no longer living looking over my shoulder, struggling to feed myself and those around me. I understand how blessed I am and what I have overcome in life. No one has provided support or even the how to do what I've done. I think my faith and prayers is the reason why God keeps guiding my steps. I took my street smarts and trying my best to apply it to something legit while being a guide for others who are facing similar.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest in the infrastructure of my tax business and continue to grow and educate those with little to no understanding of finances and real life problems. I am hiring and building a team as I move into 2025 so that I can offer more resources and general education for those interested in learning more. I have already invested heavily into myself and my vision for the impact my story can have on others.
