Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My grandfather, James B. Lemons, inspires me in business. He came to Chicago from Mississippi with nothing and built Lem's Bar-B-Q into a community pillar. Inducted into the Barbecue Hall of Fame, his leadership and vision inspired a legacy that spans 70 years. Focusing on contribution and embracing healthy competition, he believed in giving knowledge freely, a principle embodied by the street naming of the Honorary James B. Lemons Way.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay inspired by honoring the legacy of hard work and perseverance passed down from my grandparents and parents. Their dedication fuels my drive to ensure their efforts are never wasted on me. My motivation stems from a desire to create opportunities and a lasting impact for future generations, just as was done for me. This commitment to a legacy of contribution and empowerment keeps me striving for long-term impact and purpose.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded the $25,000, I will host an innovation course for entrepreneurs, both virtually and in person. The course will equip entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge to embrace the inevitable changes driven by innovation and technology. This program will empower participants to remain competitive and thrive in an ever-evolving business landscape by fostering adaptability and forward-thinking strategies.
