Hurricane Helene showed me how vulnerable rural communities are during disasters. Seeing families struggle with debris removal in the High Country, I knew something had to change. As a woman-owned business, Trashy Girl is my answer—creating accessible waste management that truly serves mountain communities. My goal is to provide flexible, compassionate service where traditional trucks can’t go, empowering our community one pickup at a time.

How do you stay motivated?

Every day, I’m driven by the resilience of the High Country communities that survived Hurricane Helene. Seeing families rebuild, neighbors helping neighbors, and the unbreakable spirit of rural North Carolina fuels my passion. Trashy Girl isn’t just a business—it’s a commitment to serving those who’ve faced incredible challenges. When the work gets tough, I remember why I started: to make a real difference, one trash pickup at a time.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The $25,000 would transform Trashy Girl by purchasing a specialized long-bed truck designed for mountain terrain. No more borrowing my husband’s work truck—this vehicle means expanded service areas, more efficient routes, and the ability to reach remote High Country communities. It’s an investment in our mission to provide accessible waste management, helping more rural families who struggle with traditional trash pickup.
