Who or what is your inspiration in business?

Visionary leaders like Steve Jobs and Elon Musk, who inspire with their ability to disrupt industry status quo, think big and take bold risks inspire me. I’m also inspired by my personal passion and values for solving problems, improving lives and addressing challenges I’ve encountered personally, which includes the loss of my brother to an inadequate Nigerian healthcare system. I’m also inspired by climate change impacting agriculture, and in healthcare to improve diagnosis.

How do you stay motivated?

Daily, I’m reminded there’s no stopping as I come across people who have experienced or experiencing challenges that my skillset, interest and experience can help to address but with no immediate solutions. I have a clear vision of what needs be done and my heart beats faster in such circumstances. My innate motivation to apply my science to helping people keep me moving. What would you do with the $25,000?

I currently have a laboratory space in Ibadan, Nigeria dedicated for performing metabolomics and training future Nigerian scientists in the field of metabolomics. With $25000, I would 1. Acquire foundational tools and reagents necessary to take off the lab functions in preparation for the acquisition of the most important instrument, LCMS. 2. Fund pilot studies in nutritional metabolomics for food quality and security assessment as proof of concepts. 3. Fund Capacity building efforts.
