Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

I cannot pinpoint one person, but I have had entrepreneurial blood in me for as long as I can remember. I always had lemonade stands growing up. My Granny used to get Grit magazine, and I would respond to all the "stuffing envelopes" ads. I started babysitting when I was 11 years old. In college, I worked three jobs while carrying a full course load. I was always looking for ways to make money, and now, at 47 years old, the story is the same. Can't stop, won't stop!

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by visualizing the outcome of my work and the lives I can impact, whether through customers or my employees. Our small town is returning to life, and it's SO exciting to be a part of the revitalization. When my goals and dreams bring joy to others, I know I'm on the right track and motivated to press on. Add this to the fact that I LOVE to rehab blighted and historic properties that NO ONE else is willing to touch... and my heart sings!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I recently completed the renovation of an affordable housing 8 plex in our small town of Minden, Louisiana. I aim to keep rent BELOW industry standards and provide a cozy haven for those who need it most. We desperately need a new parking lot. It would enhance the lives of our residents and continue to bring restoration to a street previously known for drug and gang activity. We are punching evil in the face and giving this complex new life.
