My inspiration comes from environmental advocates like Greta Thunberg, whose dedication to sustainability drives my mission. Innovators like Elon Musk inspire me to push boundaries and reimagine a much more sustainable future. Witnessing the devastating impact of plastic pollution on marine life and ecosystems fuels my determination to find sustainable solutions through Alaagi. These influences shape my vision of creating a greener future with seaweed-based bioplastics.

How do you stay motivated?

My motivation stems from a deep passion for the environment and the vision of a sustainable future. Achievements like developing our prototype, securing partnerships, and receiving letters of intent strengthen my commitment. Despite facing multiple failures, my unbroken dedication and passion for my mission kept me moving forward, demonstrating my resilience and determination. Support from mentors and programs like Dalhousie's Emera ideaBUILD and Propel's Vision Program keeps me driven as well.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The $25,000 prize would be invested in advancing Alaagi's seaweed-based bioplastics. Funds would go towards further prototype development, securing necessary certifications, and optimizing our production processes. This financial support would also help expand pilot projects with early adopters, refine our products, and establish a small-scale production line to meet initial demand. Ultimately, this investment would accelerate our mission to reduce plastic pollution.
