Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My mother, Elaine, inspired me to create Elaining Hands, a nonprofit focused on mental health awareness and breaking stigma, especially in Black and Brown communities. She battled her mental health illness with resilience until her passing in 2024. Caring for her taught me that mental health, like any illness, requires patience, love, and understanding. Elaining Hands honors her legacy by providing support, education, and resources so no one feels alone in their journey.

How do you stay motivated?

My motivation stems from my mother’s legacy and the impact I’ve seen Elaining Hands create. Knowing that every step I take breaks stigma and helps someone feel seen drives me forward. I stay inspired by remembering why I started—watching my mother’s resilience despite her struggles taught me the power of love and understanding. Hearing stories from those we’ve helped reminds me that this work changes lives, and that fuels my commitment every day.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would fund Mental Health First Aid courses for adults and pediatrics, provide counseling sessions for those who can’t afford them, and purchase equipment and educational materials to distribute. I’d host Mental Health Relief Day events to promote awareness and healing and cover essential overhead costs to sustain Elaining Hands. This funding would directly support breaking stigma, educating the community, and providing resources for individuals and families in need.
