Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

Legacy. My family moved to the US from Swaziland when I was 4. I’m almost 44 now. Looking back, I have always become a problematic employee to bosses who loved the status quo. I am passionate about offering tools for self knowledge and upward mobility, especially for the most vulnerable. As a business owner, I don’t just complain. I am empowered to create opportunities (in the form of real jobs and real money) for people who’ve had difficulty navigating America.

How do you stay motivated?

I’ve had enough experience now to know that I’m excellent at what I do. The quest for excellence motivates me. I also have a toddler who I refuse to willfully disappoint because of my own fears. Zuri is worth every drop.

What would you do with the $25,000?

At my core, I am an educator. I would invest the $25k in the development of healing programs through my 2 businesses - Deftable LLC and Zodwa LLC. Deftable is my consulting arm through which I work with leaders across industries to equip them with the skills necessary to lead well in the future that is being created. I would invest in technology to reach as many as possible. Leaders cannot be terrified of the future. We offer a beacon of light to help others find their way.
