Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My inspiration came from my love of dance, and the passion I found for teaching when I was given the opportunity to teach my first Preschool Classes as a high school student. As a dancer that looked different from everyone else in the room, I quickly realized that the dance community can be hard to feel included in when you don't look "the traditional dancer." After deciding to pursue a studio of my own, I knew that I wanted everyone to feel included, welcomed, and inspired by my space

How do you stay motivated?

My students are my biggest motivation and remind me why I chose this path. The hugs, the "Hi Miss Lexi!" and the smiles on their faces are bigger to me than any hurdles I may face. I was lucky to have a dance teacher that always saw my potential and looked past what I look like on the outside, and I want every child to have that opportunity. My vision of "success" is to have made an impact on a student's life; one that makes them believe they can achieve their dreams too.

What would you do with the $25,000?

This money would be used to first finish renovations on our second studio, including mirror and floor installation, as well as the completion of our Student Lounge. One of the hardest parts of owning a dance studio is getting people in the doors, so the $25,000 would also go towards our advertising costs. I would also put money towards community outreach to allow Open Arms to host more events where all members of the community can experience the joy that occurs daily in our studio.
