Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

ICONICKIDZ was inspired by the children in our communities who deserve to see themselves reflected positively in the stories they read. Seeing how representation builds confidence and pride motivated me to create books that celebrate African American heritage and culture. Our children deserve to know their history and see themselves as the heroes of it.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by the smiles on African American children’s faces when they see characters who look like them and reflect their greatness. Those moments remind me why this work matters. At ICONICKIDZ, we ensure our children learn the fullness of their history and see themselves as the stars of it. Empowered, proud, and confident in the limitless possibilities ahead.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded the $25,000, I will expand ICONICKIDZ’s impact by placing culturally empowering books into more schools and classrooms, particularly in underserved communities. The funding will support school visits, literacy programming, and book distribution so more African American children can see themselves reflected in history, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love for reading.
