Who or what is your inspiration in business?

I am a University Criminology and Human Rights graduate working in the legal field. My end goal is to create a non-profit organization for marginalized and underserved youth. My inspiration stems from my personal experiences along with my observations of peers growing up. How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated through the legal work I do on a daily basis. I also remember all the friends I’ve lost to the system or gun violence. I do this for myself but also them. In hopes their legacies can live on through my non-profit organization. I want to use their stories as warnings of what certain lifestyles can bring. I would also like successful racialized people to speak on their own testimonies and how they overcame the obstacles in life to get to where they are today.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off my student loan and then start my non-profit business. First I would get it incorporated and trademark the name. Then, I would look for a board of directors and start having meetings with the community to discuss what I am trying to do. Eventually, I would like to find a community centre of some sort to be the “hub” and main place youth and their families can come to. Essentially using the $25,000 as a business investment to turn this dream into reality.
