Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My inspiration for Food for Thought began in my childhood. I grew up surrounded by family—both by blood and by choice—who always looked out for one another and filled the gaps when someone was in need. As I got older, I noticed that same village mindset wasn’t as common. So, I created Food for Thought to help rebuild that spirit of community and bring back the belief that it truly takes a village.

How do you stay motivated?

My motivation comes from my love for people. Every day I get the opportunity to serve through time, food, and compassion. After earning my Master’s in Social Work, I knew the field had much to offer, but I wanted to build something meaningful for me and beneficial to my hometown. Seeing individuals and families struggle in my city motivates me and until Indianapolis overcomes food insecurity, there will always be work to do.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Receiving $25,000 would support Food for Thought’s expansion and operations. As a growing organization, we currently operate from a room in my home and use my car for food deliveries. $18,000 would secure space for pantry storage, fundraisers, and equipment. $2,000 would fund bulk apparel purchases, with proceeds supporting the organization, and $3,000 would purchase nonperishable food to help meet the growing demand from clients.
