Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My deceased brother is my inspiration in business. I watched him turn his dreams of being a baker into his reality. I can remember when I would visit his home to sample his desserts before he actually started selling them. He was resourceful, passionate and driven. He never attended culinary school and taught himself how to bake. He didn’t give up! Although, he hit the wall many times, he didn’t let that stop him, he kept pushing through. He encouraged me to pursue my dreams.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated because I am doing what l love and what l’ve always been passionate about, which is reading, writing and teaching. My driving forces are my four children. They are watching me so failing is not an option. Also, I stay motivated because of my brother. Before he passed away, when I was afraid to start my business, he told me that it would work and that I would be successful, So, it is my desire to make him proud of me. I am on a mission to get every child reading.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the $25,000, I would invest in my book business. I would use the money to start up my online bookstore where people can purchase my books and resources directly through me instead of using a third party. I would also like to have my 8 books translated to other languages because my ultimate goal is to create a global classroom through my business.
