Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

I launched MindScribber to address the pervasive barriers to quality mental health services, especially in marginalized and under-resourced communities. By leveraging technology, MindScribber democratizes access to evidence-based mental health support, offering a cost-effective, time-efficient journaling app that helps users process trauma and reduce stress using the proven Expressive Writing Method and a suite of wellness tools. Reducing suffering in the world is the inspiration for my company.

How do you stay motivated?

I’m a father of two young boys. Their overall well-being keeps me motivated. Becoming financially solvent through entrepreneurship increases the likelihood that they’ll flourish and such security reduces the risk of excess suffering for them in the future. I once watched the movie, John Q, and tearfully watched as the protagonist almost lost his son because he couldn’t afford to pay for his heart transplant. I never want my family to be in such a position.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My bootstrapped startup carries significant credit card debt. A $25,000 grant would be used to immediately pay down high-interest balances, easing family financial strain and stabilize the business. The remaining capital would fund targeted marketing campaigns to boost app visibility, user acquisition, and momentum. I aim to reduce suffering in the world with the app, but that’s unlikely unless people know about it. Funding would help with marketing so I can help those in need.
