Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My business inspiration comes from pioneering Black education entrepreneurs such as Booker T. Washington, Mary McLeod Bethune, Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown, and Marva Collins. These leaders were visionary institution-builders who recognized unmet needs in Black communities and transformed their ideas into impactful educational models. They successfully partnered with philanthropists, church communities, families, and other stakeholders to secure the support needed to bring their visions to life.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by keeping my vision in front of me and remembering who I am building for with each day of work. Black children deserve to be seen, affirmed, challenged, and loved in their learning environments. My faith, my daughters, and the legacy of Black education pioneers remind me that this work is bigger than me. Even when the journey is hard, I stay committed to the purpose God placed on my life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 grant as seed funding to support startup operations before opening. It would help cover a part-time assistant (10–12 hours weekly), marketing and advertising, community outreach events with light refreshments, and essential office needs such as a cell phone, paper, ink, and supplies. These funds would help build capacity before tuition and state voucher funds begin.
