Who or what is your inspiration in business?

La Casa de Jenny was founded by Dr. Leslye Salinas after her research revealed a gap in support for newcomer families. While schools supported students, families often navigated life in the U.S. alone. As an immigrant herself, she recognized the need to support adults’ career and education pathways to rebuild stability and identity. La Casa de Jenny connects families to resources, opportunities, and guidance, honoring her late mother Jenny’s dream of a better future.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by remembering the families we serve and the impact of helping newcomers navigate life in a new country. Each success story—a job secured, a family connected to resources, or someone regaining confidence—reminds me why this work matters. La Casa de Jenny also honors my mother’s legacy and the dreams of immigrant families striving to build stability and opportunity in their new home.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, La Casa de Jenny would invest in expanding our job search and career navigation services for recently arrived immigrants. Funding would support a part-time program coordinator, stipends for workshop facilitators, and technology and materials for job readiness workshops. We would also strengthen our referral network to connect families with housing, food, and early childhood resources. This investment would help us reach more newcomer families and accelerate pathways to employ
