Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My inspiration comes from people who build systems that expand opportunity for others. I’ve always believed real change happens when you create structures that keep helping people long after they’re built. If they can do it, why can't I? So, I took “be the change you want to see” seriously and started building solutions instead of waiting for them. Through EmpowerEd, I’m focused on creating programs that scale opportunity for students everywhere.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by remembering who this work is for. I’ve experienced private, public, online, selective, and homeschooling, and in every system there are students with incredible potential who lack the right opportunities. Growing up in North Carolina, where public school funding ranks 50th nationally, made me realize how much opportunity can depend on circumstance. What would you do with the $25,000?

The $25,000 would help us launch our EmpowerEd Career Pathway Pilot. Students will earn accredited professional certifications (+ college credit) with the help of our partner edX, using our pathway we'd connect them with real employers and get them the certifications needed for easy entry into high-demand fields. The goal is simple: students get real credentials and direct access to paid work opportunities, creating a pathway to careers for those who can’t afford or choose not to attend co
