Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

Growing up in Kingston Jamaica I never knew too many people who were successful small business owners. They were all struggling to keep the doors open. The thing I admire most was that they had no formal education. However, they were determined to survive. My dad was one of those people. I saw what he did with little and imagined myself doing better. I decided I wanted to be my own boss and wanted to elevate the lifestyle of myself and that of my children. I would also help my community.

How do you stay motivated?

I must say it’s a struggle but I will not be defeated. The heights of great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight but they while their companions slept were toiling upward through the night. How will I know the ending if I don’t stay in the race? I’m motivated by the outcome I want to see the ending.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use it to invest in innovation. I want to develop new ways to keep my industry thriving. We are still losing hours through production time our industry is still struggling in keeping people motivated. I want to solve that. The job is monotonous and so even the best staff lose their ability to focus on the end goal which is customer satisfaction.
