Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My inspiration in business is my family (my mother and brothers), because legacy is imperative in a business setting. Running a business as a family with a mission creates a business rooted in character, community, and a faithful product for customers who become family. My grandmother and grandfather left a legacy for their children, as they were the first African American entrepreneurs to open a grocery store in their community, and that community remains family to this day.

How do you stay motivated?

My faith keeps me motivated. Like all of us, life has thrown me curveballs with the intention of discouraging me. However, my belief in godly counsel, biblical principles, and spiritual development have carried me through dark days so that I can rejoice in knowing that trouble doesn’t last always, so stay encouraged knowing that the sun will shine again.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000.00 I would begin the process of elevating my business from online into the small setting of my community. I would use the funds to open a small space geared towards offering coffee with comfort, and a space for other small businesses to meet for Bible study, empowerment meetings, and community presentations. This would be the beginning of not just a business, but a tradition in my community and family.
