Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My inspiration in business comes from my cousin who tragically passed away from rhabdomyosarcoma. Witnessing the impact on our family revealed the disconnect many communities experience with healthcare—limited access to information, lack of trust in medical professionals, and few caregivers who reflect the communities they serve. I’m also inspired by my godson, her son, whose life reminds me daily why compassionate, trustworthy, and culturally responsive care matters.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by remembering my purpose—to improve care and build trust in the communities that need it most. The families we serve, the impact of compassionate care, and the legacy of my cousin continue to drive me. I’m also inspired by my godson and the opportunity to create systems of care that are more inclusive, trustworthy, and centered on dignity and quality of life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded the $25,000, I would invest in expanding Love Is Zaki Home Healthcare to better serve families in our community. The funds would support caregiver training and development, recruitment of diverse staff, community outreach to build trust and health education, and operational resources that strengthen quality care delivery. This investment would help us grow our capacity to provide compassionate, reliable in-home care while promoting dignity, independence, and improved quality of life.
