Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My biggest inspiration is my son, Jeremiah. I’m a 36-year-old mom raising a 12-year-old boy, and every day I want him to see that his mom is working hard to build something for us. I created Lipcious Beauty Co. on March 27, 2020, making organic, handmade, natural lip products. My son motivates me, but so do the people in my community. When neighbors on Nextdoor support my posts, encourage me, and actually buy my products, it reminds me that what I’m building really matters.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by my son and by the people who support my small business. Being a mom means everything I do is not just for me but for my child and our future. When my son sees me balancing school, business, and life, it shows him that hard work and determination matter. I also stay motivated when people in my community encourage me, like my posts, and purchase my products. Every order and every kind comment reminds me that I’m on the right path.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Winning the $25,000 would truly change my life right now. I’m currently running out of financial aid for school and have applied for many scholarships but haven’t received one yet. This money would help me pay for my education so I can focus on finishing school without constantly worrying about how I’m going to afford it. It would also help me grow Lipcious Beauty Co. by investing in my products and working toward my dream of one day opening my own store.
