Connect Who or what is your inspiration in business?

My parents were my inspiration for starting this business. Even though they both worked long hours as educators, they always had a garden and encouraged us to eat healthy. When my Mom was diagnosed with some of the illnesses that plague our community, she did not let that stop her. She researched and prioritized growing and eating a healthy plate.

How do you stay motivated?

My children and my husband help me to stay motivated. Three years ago my husband was diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune disease. During our struggle to avoid sugar, processed foods and increasing our whole fruits and vegetables intake, we discovered the lack of availability in our neighborhood and across the city. Old, moldy and overpriced items were way too plentiful. I want my family as well as, my community to have healthy organically grown produce available.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to help with gardening supplies and plant starts, produce purchases from local farmers and to be able to pay for an extra employee to help with sales.
