Who or what is your inspiration in business?

Both of my parents were inspirations in my entrepreneurial spirit. My Mom was an immigrant from Jamaica and as a child I remember her running an immigration business from the home in the 70’s. She would meet with clients & I would go w/her. My Dad & Mom had an at home business and I would do the books for them. How do you stay motivated?

I believe we can all do good in life & walk on the silver lining. My love for continued learning & development coupled w/reading positive literatures keeps me motivated. My non- profit’s mission is about improving people’s lives in a positive way w/the goal of sustainability. Building to leave a legacy for community keeps me motivated on a societal level. My for-profit is in the tech space with the potential to scale.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 and split it between my two businesses. RespectFirst my non-profit supports previously incarcerated women through programs that teach and provide career readiness and life skills. My background in Human Resources is invaluable in this space. The second part of the non-profit’s mission is to provide program’s & opportunities for children of previously incarcerated women. The other half of the $25,000 would go toward my for-profit business.
