Who or what is your inspiration in business?

Groovy Thrifty is a business that was built off morals. With a huge passion for environmentalism and strong desire to educate our community on the dangers of fast fashion, the business has been structured around making a positive impact without making a massive carbon footprint. When it comes to scaling from a small business to a dream brand, it’s been difficult to expand in a world where convenience and astronomically low prices have been normalized.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by interacting with my customers and catering to their needs and growing alongside my local demographic. As a vintage store that primarily sells clothing, it’s important to keep up with trends and target a direct audience. With that being said, we are always motivated by finding new homes for garments that would otherwise be dumped on landfills. On a daily basis, we continue to prove that sustainable fashion can be trendy and affordable while also saving the planet!

What would you do with the $25,000?

The project that Groovy Thrifty is proposing is to expand our pre-existing space to a second and larger location to be used as a community space for public events and rotating small business sales. It has become clear that finding community spaces that allow for live music is difficult for artists who are just starting out. If approved, this grant would allow many more artists/creators to grow, showcase their work and continue feeling support while on their own journey.
