My locs are my inspiration. The stigma that the Black and Brown community, couldn’t achieve long healthy hair have been normalized for far too long. The beauty industry thrived on this concept and began flooding the market with chemically induced products to “accentuate” the beauty of these communities. While companies profited, Black and Brown communities’ health suffered. Even today, there is immense scrutiny surrounding the God-given natural hair of this community.
How do you stay motivated?The rise in cancer cases resulting from the beauty industry due to chemically induced products is frightening. Besides, I am uncomfortable with quitting, it’s that feeling when you start something, you just have to finish. God shows me the way and provides the funds to keep the business running, so I keep going. With such a help, there’s no way I can quit.
What would you do with the $25,000?Monthly and yearly fees take from the funds needed to purchase supplies. Therefore, supplies and fees are my main goal. Followed by marketing to bring awareness to my brand (photoshoots, etc.), and broadening the product line.
